The future of storage media is around the corner.
Maxell is on track to create what could possibly revolutionize the way we store data forever — holographic disk storage! They plan on (shipping late 2006) initially offering removable hardware units pushing storage on 300 GB media, transferring at 20 MBps. Eventually, the media will be able to push 120 MBps on 1.6 TB media. HVD — Holographic Versatile Disc — format is like bringing the days of Star Trek TNG to a reality.
