… on becoming Flickr’ized …

I’m really loving Flickr. I’ve always "liked" the relative intuitiveness of adding galleries from iPhoto to my .Mac account – but to be honest .mac photo galleries just look HORRIBLE! Which is so incredibly crazy considering all the everything aesthetic when it comes to living on a mac. Why are .mac albums so nasty looking? You can’t blame that on Web Objects!

What I like about flickr is that it allows me to easily share my stuff with peeps, manage everything online, plugs into iPhoto (which I like), has a PC manager (which my wife likes), has "photoBlog" capabilities, and provide cute little widgets on my site. All of this, while being easy enough for my wife and I to use from both multiple Mac and PC systems (since I’ve been trying to convert her over but she absolutely just can’t get with the Mac Life and is still getting on me about not fixing the PC that’s been broke for nearly 3 months now and I haven’t fixed …. ugh, but I digress…).

So anyway, the only reason I wrote this was to say that I’m definitely going to upgrade to a Pro account ($24; there’s always the free version, too) for a year’s subscription with of 2 GB of storage, unlimited bandwith, unlimited storage, and ad free viewing! And I’m sharing my first flickr Gallery here and over in the "Rich Pics" pod in the sidebar!

PS: If you want an alternative to .mac albums that plug-in to iPhoto -which I love- I highly suggest Galerie (free … Mac only) and JAlbum (free … Mac, PC, And Linux). I’ve got to add that I have always loved Picasa (free … from Google – PC only) which is more like iPhoto for Windows (being able to manage/store/catalogue your digital archive), whereas the others are primarily just for online galleries. I actually used Picasa back in my PC days before it was bought by Google and you actually had to pay for app!
