And so as I sit here reflecting on a wonderful Christmas break with my family and friends, with the wife in the background watching her Spanish Soaps (Alborada de Univision) I found myself clicking through the virtual world to find this post from engadget.com. Apparently, there is a new company from Japan trying to break bad on the Mac Mini by creating a "PC" Mini or rather MiniPC I should say. (Unless you understand Japanese, head over to Alta Vista’s Babel Fish Translator and enter http://minipc.jp, with a Japanese to English translation to understand the site.)
It reports a size 20% smaller than the Mac Mini, but it doesn’t include an onboard optical drive (no CD’s & DVD’s) although an external one is available. But for a 1.4 GHz processor, 256MB RAM, 40GB Hard drive, and Windows XP Home Edition that costs $780 (and you still have to pay for the external optical drive) it’s not really much competition to the Mac Mini, but a nice try … but that’s just my opinion.
